The best fundraising plan can still fail. Not because of a lack of talent or willpower, but because none of us know what’s coming down the line.
Take, for example, the very good fundraising plan I had to throw in the garbage in early March 2020.
The best fundraising plans aren’t set in stone. They are flexible, designed to grow, flex, or even shrink as our fundraising environment changes.
Too often, nonprofit leaders cling to rigid strategies that can’t weather real-world change. If your plan doesn’t make room for iteration — for feedback, recalibration, and surprise opportunities — it’s not really a strategy.
What if your board had input that actually shaped the path ahead?
What if your plan had quarterly benchmarks that encouraged honest review?
What if your plan could help you evaluate future opportunities as they arose?
I share some ways to make your fundraising plan more flexible in this week’s video. Check it out — and let me know what piece of your plan feels frozen right now.
