Last week, I had the opportunity to present at the AFP Advancement Northwest conference in Seattle. There, I talked about some of the mindsets that are keeping your nonprofit board from becoming champions for your mission.
It was a great conference – and I love the opportunity to help nonprofit leaders reconsider how they work with board members.
I thought I’d share three key takeaways from the presentation in the quick video below.
1. The importance of treating your board members like individuals, not as part of a collective
2. How clear expectations can help your board members feel successful
3. Ways to support your board’s purpose with a strong infrastructure
And of course, there’s more. Your board is a key part of your fundraising story – engaged and visionary leadership can make the difference between “just getting by” and “crushing it.”
Are your board members part of your fundraising story? If not, let’s talk!
Oh – and if you want the board toolkit that I shared with attendees, drop me a comment or message!
