All About Mentorship

There are a lot of tools and approaches that make you a more successful fundraiser.
But the big one? It’s mentorship.
A fundraising mentor is someone to challenge you, support you, and connect you to the bigger world of nonprofits. I know that my career, and my passion for working in nonprofits, owes a huge debt of gratitude to my first mentor, Frank Hall.
Frank did more than teach me about fundraising. He showed me what it meant to be a full-time fundraiser and taught me lessons I still use today (dead people give more money than live corporations, for example).
I've also had the opportunity to serve as a mentor to several nonprofit superstars - both in Orange County and here in Tacoma.
"But Chris," you might be saying. "That sounds nice, but what does it have to do with raising funds for my mission?"
Good point, imaginary reader.
Working with a mentor (or a coach) leads to effective and efficient fundraising. Mentorship (or coaching for that matter) is not a luxury item, but a way to bring perspective and accountability to your work.
Investing in mentorship or coaching is a part of your development strategy. Want to learn more? Reply to this message and let me know.
