Three Calls Before the Holidays

Hand-crafted social media content the week of December 15?
Â
A week that, for many people, is kind of a slow motion loss of momentum contrasted with a growing sense of urgency (for year-end giving, family obligations, etc.)?
Â
It's a time of the year where we often feel pulled between a desire to celebrate the present and to prepare for the prospects of a new year.
Â
Heck, even my local hardware store has consolidated most of the holiday lights and decorations into a small section, to make room for rows and rows of storage boxes.
Â
With that in mind, here are three important phone calls every nonprofit leader and fundraiser should make this week:
Â
Call (and thank) and donor. Pick a donor. Preferably someone who gave this year. Call them and thank them for being a part of your mission. You might leave a message, or you might have nice conversation. Either way, call a donor!
Â
Call (and thank) and volunteer. This can be a program volunteer, or a board member, or any sort of volunteer that is connected with your organization. Thank them for their time - and for being a part of your mission and story.
Â
Call (and, you guessed it, thank) a team member. Maybe it's a member of your fundraising team. Or maybe it's someone from programs, or finance, or HR. The point is - reach out and thank them. Fundraising doesn't happen in a vacuum - it only happens when the full team is engaged in the mission.
Â
So in-between your year-end campaign, holiday parties, and annual viewings of your favorite holiday movie, take a minute to make these three calls to share a little gratitude and joy.
Â
And while gratitude and joy are in air, let me say thanks to all of you for reading, watching, and being a part of what I am building with Resolute Philanthropy. You have all decided to stand up for causes that you believe in and I'm honored to work alongside you to make this world a little kinder, safer, healthier, and joyful.
