RevHubOC - a Resolute Philanthropy client - is building a social enterprise ecosystem in Orange County. The organization believes that social enterprises -- businesses with the impact and mission of a nonprofit along with the sustainability and scalability of a for-profit -- can address some of society's biggest challenges. Resolute Philanthropy is working on fundraising strategy and outreach with this exciting team. Here's a recent story about one of RevHub's partnerships and programs.
Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the grant opening of the Center for Entrepreneurship at the North Orange County Community College District.
The center is the first of its kind in Orange County – and only the third in California (out of 116 community colleges in the state). Not only will the center help connect community college students with the resources they need to launch their own businesses, but it will advance the culture of entrepreneurial thinking in Orange County.
The center is part of the NorthSTAR OC Collaborative – an effort to build a social enterprise ecosystem in North Orange County and Create illuminated pathways and zero barriers to entrepreneurship, especially social entrepreneurship, for underrepresented, under-resourced communities.
NorthSTAR OC was founded by RevHubOC and a team of innovative community partners – including NOCCD, MECCA, CIELO, AdvanceOC, CSUF, OneOC, Research for Social Impact, and the OC Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Even more exciting – NorthSTAR was launched with an $8.5 million investment from the State of California – thanks to the leadership of Senator Josh Newman.
There’s more to come – more programs, more engagement opportunities, and more ways to support people from underserved communities with the networks, knowledge, and capital needed to launch impactful and exciting business ventures!
